Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children who would grow up in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of her difficulties by using her rich and vibrant imagination. Before she learned to write and read, she had already composed the songs she wrote herself. The guitar that she first received was presented by her mother when she was eight. She began singing in an Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. She recorded her first album in the same calendar year on Gold Band Records, a small independent label. Although she became a local star while in High School, she knew her ambitions were much bigger. After graduating high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show needed an additional singer around this point. Parton took the job in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. Parton left the show however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Parton wrote I Will Always love You to Wagoner after their breakup. It reached number one. The first time it made it to number 1 was in 1974.
